Cardinal Timothy Dolan joined artists, family, and friends at The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture to bless The Sunrise Gallery – The Works of Jan Dilenschneider, a new space dedicated to celebrating faith through the arts.
The gallery, which features nature-inspired works by Connecticut artist Jan Dilenschneider, opened with a joyful ceremony attended by the artist and her husband, Bob. The couple was warmly welcomed by MaryLou Pagano, executive director of The Sheen Center, along with supporters who gathered to mark the occasion.
During the blessing, Cardinal Dolan reflected on the deep connection between beauty and faith, praying that the new gallery would inspire all who enter to encounter “the divine Artist.” Citing Pope Francis, he noted that artists are “witnesses to the revolutionary vision of the Beatitudes” and are called “to give voice to the voiceless, to transform pain into hope.”
The Sunrise Gallery will serve as a new hub for artistic reflection within The Sheen Center, continuing its mission to explore the intersection of faith, art, and culture.
