Under the pastoral leadership of the Archbishop of New York, the Office of Liturgy serves as a resource for the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy throughout the Archdiocese of New York.  

Key Functions of the Office of Liturgy

Offering guidance on matters related to the liturgy for both clergy and faithful. 

Disseminating updates from the Holy See and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). 

Staying abreast of current studies and programs in the field of liturgical studies and pastoral liturgy. 

Developing programs to advance the practice of liturgy within the Archdiocese.

Approving and overseeing the work of the Liturgical Art and Architecture Commission and the Liturgical Music Commission

Working alongside the Catechumenate Office and the Office of Adult Faith Formation to provide liturgical formation for both clergy and laity.

Associated Commissions and Offices

The Liturgical Music Commission develops and promotes liturgical music policies within the Archdiocese, while also serving as a liaison for pastors and musicians regarding employment opportunities.

The Liturgical Art and Architecture Commission supports the Office of Liturgy by reviewing church renovations and building projects for liturgical compliance, and serves as a resource for pastors engaged in construction, restoration, and remodeling.
